Abolutely quality buy in Lampard.... here we have a midfielder whom, if allowed to play in his natural role, will not only create, but score a bagfull of goals every season. Well, two midfielders and a versatile defender is a good start but what im worried about is the lack of a creative central attacking midfielder. we need one and we need one fast! we lost Poyet to Spurs and we cant just depend on good ol Zola. I dont believe Lampard is a replacement for Zola. A killer ball player is whats required, due to our style of play. Hence Nakata i believe would have been a far better choice for around the same money we paid for Frank. Nakata also played a considerable part of last season as a holding midfielder so is more versatile if required. As for my choice of Hasslebaink to go if anyone, many may find this ridiculous but, i think his attitude to the game sucks and i wouldn't mind knowing how many goals he scored away from home last season, not many. This could be attributed to our poor away record, but i think he gets too frustrated too quickly and just goes missing too often.Enough griping anyway, I still love the club and think we have the most skillful squad by a distance in the country. P.S. Can't wait for the new season and those refreshing Sunderland long balls!!

I think we have a challenging team capable of winning silverware at least. It is going to be tough to win the league with the likes of Man Utd, Leeds, Liverpool and Arsenal. Let's not overestimate the importance of Wisey's decision to leave - there are plenty of reasons to look on the bright side:
- To get £1.6m for a 34-year-old is no mean feat - we are in fact recouping what we paid for him 11 years ago
- His best playing days are behind him
- It is important to lower the age of the team
- He is replaceable with Lampard (and/or Petit)
- It is naive to suggest that he is Chelsea's only player with fighting spirit - Morris, Sam DB and JFH possess it in abundance (plus Wisey's fighting spirit has in the past got the Blues into trouble
- Wisey's only outstanding season in recent years was 99/00, when the presence of Deschamps in front of the defence gave him licence to get forward (remember the San Siro?). Since the sale of Deschamps, we have had no water-carrier and Wisey's game has become ordinary (remember Euro 2000?)
So nobody can deny that he has played a massive part in Chelsea' history, but in all honesty his imminent move to Leicester is not as big a disaster as some would have you believe.
For me, a more disappointing turn of events has been the sale of Courtney Pitt to Portsmouth. I appreciate what Graham Rix did for Chelsea during his time at the Bridge, but please Ricco, stop poaching our youngsters!
Incidentally, does anybody remember Ranieri stating soon after his appintment his intention to build the team around four players? If my memory serves, they were Zola, Desailly, Poyet and Wise. Considering that this plan seems to have gone to pot, can we expect to see Marcel or Franco leaving next? Gaz

Let's look on the bright side - Gallas looks decent (remember the great goal he scored against MUFC a couple of seasons back) and if we get Petit and a bit of consistency, we will be up there next season, and in the Chapions League the season after that. Keep behind the Blues.

With the already arrival of French star Gallas, We can be title contenders again next season with a couple more additions to the squad, Say West Ham's Frank Lampard and Barca's Petit? Strongest Chelsea team/Squad at the moment:- Cudicini(Bosnich If fit) Le Saux, Desailly, Gallas, Melchiot (or maybe Terry & Babayaro in there) Gronkjaer, Dalla Bona, Morris, Wise (Stanic, & Di Matteo would be strong contenders if both fit) Hasselbaink, Zola (Gudjohnson(Great youngster), As you can see Players like Petit, Lampard, or another great Striker would be great additions to the squad. Well, 6th place in the league is now that bad considering the problems the club have been through. The UEFA Cup is a well deserved consolation. Now the hard work begins. Hopefully the club will revamp the squad and chuck away the old to bring in the new. we should hang on to local talents such as Terry, Harley, Morris and even Wise to form the English crux of the team which embody English grit and hardwork. This combined with the creative and sublime skills of foreign imports into the squad woul d make Chelsea a force to be reckoned with. The signing of Gallas is welcomed but more quality nedds to be added on to make up for the exodus of older players leaving. But to me to most important thing that the club really needs is a STRONG teams spirit, willing to fight for every cause that can be seen in teams like Leeds, Liverpool and especially Ipswich this season. Once this spirit is installed in the players of the club, then and only then will CFC go places. This should be the main aim of Ranieri's when the rebuilding starts. The club is in his hands. No matter, as a Blue in Malaysia, im sick of all the Manure and Liverpool fan's boastings and this HAS to stop. We need the title soon and we need it BAD! Lets hope that we can achive something in the future and hope that it will always be a BLUE tomorrow!

after an extremely dissappointing season(admittedly we did improve near the end) we will have to take stock and improve the side for the new season. this will involve quite a clearout over the summer and a few well known faces will not be around come august. Ranieri (i,m not his biggest fan) i suppose will have to be given next season to prove his worth. CPL qaulification and a good run in the uefa cup are the absolute minimum we will accept if he is to stay any longer. new players (mostly british) ,especially a quality midfielder are badly needed. so here,s hoping for more success next term.

Thanks for your regards, Albie - I have to agree with you about the Eurovision situation - really not up to scratch this year.
Getting back to the point, we need to beef up the midfield and we need English players. The answer to our problems is staring us in the face - Frank Lampard. He wants to leave Upton Park (who can blame him?) and he wouldn't even have to move house to play for Chelsea.

Not the best season in recent years considering the team which on paper is arguably one of the best if not the best team in Europe. Ranieri should be given to the mid point of next season and if there has not been a considerable improvement in the result then we should look at a new manager. On the player front in belive that we must persuade Zola to stay on for one more season at least and look to buy Kluivert as an ideal partner for Hasslebaink. For the team that Chelsea have, it was a very disapointing season, with defeats to some of the poorer teams in the League, No commitment and sweat to the cause. The players need to look at themselves, as the manager has just arrived. I love Chelsea and know that this could easily have been our best season....But alas it was not to be...Chelsea lack backbone...Jimmy up front has it...so has Desaily...and Dala Lama Bona.
BUT WE LOVE CHELSEA NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!

I've been a fan for over 35 years but not been to too many games (location etc). I started supporting back in 1966 at the start of the 66/67 season in the days of Bobby Tambling; John Boyle et al. One of my favourite players of old was Tommy Baldwin - bit of an unsung hero. I've lived in the Greater Manchester area for about 30 years or more and get sick opf listening to the Red scum boasting. I think the Chelsea team of 3 seasons ago (Finished 3rd and qualified for Champions League etc) was probably the strongest in recent years and gave the biggest threat to ManU. At this point much praise to Ed de Goey who finally brought a bit of stability between the posts - the first to do so consistently since Peter Bonetti. Eternally grateful to Gianfranco (Zola) for placing his faith firmly with the Club. That should lead the way and if we can add two or three KEY signings before next season (young achieving striker; talented gutsy midfielder; class cenrtal defender) then we can go all the way next season. Cuidicini is looking better and better; Sam Della Bona (if he stays) is better than Beckham and Jesper Gronkaer (sorry for any typos!) will really fly next season - as will Gudjohnsen.
I'm Chelsea till I die and so is every member of my family.

Zola and Desailly BOTH pledge their future to the club! And they say loyalty doesn't exist any more!
But it ain't all good. We would never have gone behind to Everton with Luca in charge, and this is evidence of the fact that CFC has gone backwards since the appointment of Ranieri - please Bates, accept you have made a mistake and chuck him out. Every time we lose he says "I don't mind - the better team won". WHY??? Chelsea is the better team - why have we not beaten the opposition?
However, we beat Everton (in the end) and we need to win one or draw two away games to qualify for UEFA. That is far from guaranteed with this clown in charge. In case you haven't guessed, I'm getting worked up.

i´ve looked the guestbook hole through and almost everybody is wanting new players and young players.
I think that we shut start next season with a youth tema and build from there and then we may win the premier league in a few years.
And we already have young players like Gudjohnson, Gronkjaer, Terry, Harley And more but we don´t use them, put them on the field and we will win.

Well we've all been here before !! There is always next season we all say. Well sorry next season isn't good enough anymore. The club has to make some drastic changes in the off season and fully commit it self to winning the premier next year.
The big spend isn't working. Putting big name players in one team doesn't mean it'll be the best team. Players have to complement each other on the field and be able to read each others game. I think that is the problem with Chelsea. We bought big name players but put them all together in one team and it doesn't work.
The rotation system could be partly to blame. How are players to form compinations when a different team is picked each week. The team should be picked on form NOT on rotation. Yes a large squad is needed to cover injuries but really EUROPE. We'd be lucky to win a lucky dip the way the team has performed this year.
We need a good coach to steer the team to success. Someone with fresh ideas and an eye for talent. To be able to pick a team that plays well as a team NOT as a bunch of individuals.
Lastly GOOD LUCK to Vialli and I hope he brings WATFORD to the PREMIER. I think that will prove CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB made a error in judgement and should have stood by him when he needed support from the club.
